Privacy Policy
Effective 2 July 2026
This privacy policy explains what information we collect when you use the FamilyMeals app, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What information do we collect and how is it used?
To provide the service, we collect and store the following:
- Account information — the email address your sign-in provider shares with us (via Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In), plus a display name or nickname that you choose. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only receive Apple's private-relay address. Members who join an existing household with an invite code use an anonymous sign-in and do not provide an email.
- Household information you enter — a household name, a timezone, and the names or nicknames of the members in your household.
- Meal-planning content you enter — meals and their ingredients, your weekly meal plan, who is cooking each meal, votes and voting rounds, shopping-list items, and roulette scenarios, options and spin history.
- Purchase status — whether your household has unlocked the one-time Family Plan.
- An Apple or Google refresh token — stored only so we can revoke your Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In credential when you delete your account.
- On your device only — your sign-in session and, on a shared household device, a small cache of which member is currently active.
We use this information solely to operate FamilyMeals — to authenticate you, sync your household's meal-planning data across devices, and manage your plan. We do not use it for advertising, analytics, or marketing.
Do we collect location information?
No. FamilyMeals does not collect any location information.
Which third parties have access to your information?
We rely on the following service providers to operate. No other third parties receive your information.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple. Used for authentication. Apple shares your email (real or private-relay) with us. Privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Google — Google Sign-In (authentication) and Google Play billing. Google shares your email and name with us when you sign in; you can set a different display name inside the app. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Supabase (Supabase Inc.). Hosts the database and authentication. All account, household, and meal-planning data listed above is stored here. Privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.). Processes the optional one-time purchase. Receives a random household identifier and the App Store or Google Play transaction. No name or email is sent. Privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Payment is processed by Apple via the App Store, or by Google via Google Play; we never see your card details. The app does not include any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and does not collect advertising identifiers, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or any device sensor data.
What are my opt-out rights?
The household owner can delete the account from within the app (Settings → Delete Account and all data), which removes the household and all associated members, meals, ingredients, meal plan, votes, shopping-list items and roulette data, and revokes the stored Apple or Google refresh token. You can also uninstall the app at any time using the standard uninstall process on your device.
Children
FamilyMeals is a general-audience meal-planning tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Members are added to a household by name or nickname only; the app does not ask members to provide their own personal information.
Security
We work to safeguard the confidentiality of your information. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our service providers, and is stored on Supabase's secured infrastructure with row-level access controls that restrict each household's data to its own members. No system is perfectly secure, but we protect your information using industry-standard practices.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will post any changes on this page. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-07-02.
Your Consent
By using FamilyMeals, you consent to the processing of your information as set out in this Privacy Policy.
